Judo at the Dojo.

So a while back while Griff was Jiu-Jitsu, {JJ}, class, he and a couple other guys were asked if they would like to go to San Antonio for a personal lesson from Pedro Alberto. Pedro is a 4th Degree Black Belt in JJ and owns schools in Rio Brazil, San Antonio, and Houston. Pedro was in town from Brazil visiting one of his schools and this was a golden opportunity. Now I don’t claim to know everything about Martial Arts but apparently this guy is tha Sh!t.

On the drive to S.A. Griff sends me a text message letting me know that they are going to this guys house where he has his own dojo. His own dojo… in his house! To say Griff was excited is an understatement! He was THRILLED!!! They spent 3 1/2 hours working technique and sparring. After, they all sat down on the tatami, {mat}, and had lunch exchanging stories and laughing. What an awesome experience!

Here is a picture from that amazing day!

The Ice Backfire!

OK, so I was on this site yesterday and I was checking out all the “icings” that people had posted to the website. I was really impressed with most of them and it inspired me to rush home from work so I could “Ice” Griff. We had one lonely Smirnoff in the fridge from last weekend so I thought I’d put it to good use. I got some string and tied it around the neck of the bottle. Then I tied the string to the front door with a little note welcoming my hubby home.

011

Good one right? Well…. I was SO excited about my clever idea that I began to text my friend Sarah about it. Just as I hit “send” on my phone I realized that I sent the text to Griff. Yup, thaaaaat’s right. I stupidly informed him about the “Icing” waiting for him at home. What an IDIOT I am sometimes! Doh! I was so pissed off at my self! Like really pissed. Jokes that backfire are just never good. Never.

So Griff comes home and we have a laugh about how stupid I was and yadayadayada. {I should mention that Griff had poison ivy right now}. He starts telling me that he thinks the poison ivy has spread to his back and wants me to look at it to make sure. {See where this is going? I walked right into this one.} When he turned around to show me his back he was holding the HOTEST Smirnoff Ice I have ever had the disdane to hold in my hands. This Smirnoff was one of those gross pineapple flavored ones that he got Sarah and me with last weekend. And this particular Smirnoff has been sitting in his truck since last week. I can not even begin to tell you how hot this drink was. It burned my nose and my throat while I was drinking it. It was absolutely awful!

So not only did I screw up the perfectly planned “Icing” waiting for Griff but I was iced in return! Talk about your all time backfires!

Now fast forward to about 10:30 at night. I still have this lonely Smirnoff right? So what does this loving wife do? I put the Smirnoff in the toothpaste drawer for my hubby. Muahahahah!

018

Burn!

021 (2)

We called a truce after this one, we will no longer be “Icing” each other. So watch out friends! We have to get our “Ice” fixes in some how.

Bros Icing Bros or "The Best Game Ever Invented"

OK, if you haven’t heard of this website you need to check it out. It’s just about the best game ever invented. It’s a little game called Bros Icing Bros. Below are the rules. I should have never shown this game to Griff, it’s right up his freakin’ alley. Sigh.

So it all began the weekend of Memorial Day. Griff, Nick and I were driving to Galveston Bay to go to my Aunt and Uncle bay house. Along the way we stopped for gas and guess what was waiting for me when I got back into the car from using the facilites? Yup, you guess it. Hey at least it was cold. Thanks for thinking of me babe. Nice face huh? Whatev, I have no shame.

The same night, about an hour later, Nick ask Griff for the CD case and guess what was waiting inside? Right again kids. Ouch!

The next day when Griff wakes up from a nap guess what was waiting for him in his suitcase? Momma Raney planted this one. Nice one Mom!

Griff takes a shower after said nap and what’s waiting for him under his hat? Right again! If that ain’t a face of disgust I don’t know what is. Nice and warm too!

Moral for today kids? Don’t take naps. Guess what was waiting for Nick in his suitcase when he woke from his nap? Do I have to say it? You’re getting it by now I’m sure.

Bottoms up!

Fast forward to last weekend and Griff comes home from Judo and busts in the door all sorts of excited yelling that he just got belted again! I being the good wife was super excited for him and asked to see the “new” belt! He excitedly went to his bag only to pull out 2 Pineapple Smirnoff’s for Sarah and me to drink. What an ass. See how excited I get next time you cry wolf.

013 014

Griff was bringing in dinner from the grill, he yelled thru the door that he needed help opening said door as his hands were full. And what do we see? Griff standing there with 2 more Smirnoff’s for us to drink. Grrrrrrrr! We gave him the 1 Finger Solute in honor of our tasty beverage.

016 017

The next day we get my cousin David. Griff asks him to go into the garage to get a level out of the cabinet. And what is waiting for him? You guessed it, a hot steamy Smirnoff Ice. It was his birthday after all. Oh and did I mention it was like 900 degrees outside and this is a HOT Smirnoff he’s drinking.

021 022

Then we get him again. Sorry David.

039 041

Then David gets Griff. Tit for Tat.

048

Then David gets him again. Nice one Dave.

043 044

Then I get it the next morning. Crap! {It was in the dishwasher.}

051

So like I said, best game ever!

The Never Ending Fence Project.

So this darn fence we are building is crazy! It’s been nothing but 108 feet of pure hell. Listen to me carefully, I do not recommend to anyone to build a fence in June, in the South. Good Lord, it’s freakin’ H-O-T!! And we only have to build one side! We were lucky enough for our backyard to have a fence on 2 sides but needed a 3rd side to hold our puppies in and to keep our neighbors out! We were also VERY lucky to have friends that are willing to help us get this monster complete.

First there is Myles. A great friend that doesn’t live too far from our house. Thank you Myles! {I thought I took a pic of Myles helping with the fence but I guess I didn’t so here is pic of Myles helping to paint out master bathroom.}

Then there was Wyatt. Wyatt was an AMAZING help! He was there when we needed him and it helps that he is general contractor for his own company Giles Construction. Let’s just say he is wealth of knowledge when it comes to this stuff! Thank you Wyatt!!!

Masters & Charles Baptism 047 054

Then a couple of weekends ago my cousins, Elizabeth and David, and David’s friend Sean came up to Austin for David’s birthday. Since the plans to float the river were washed out, literally. {We had a serious down pour a couple of weeks ago that caused major damage to the Comal and Guadalupe Rivers and the rivers were closed.} So we took full advantage of the extra hands and put them to work. {It’s OK, we took David out for his birthday and watched the UFC fights.} Thank you to David, Sean, Elizabeth and Nick for helping out. It was hot as hell that day and I know you would have much rather been in the water, then sweating your asses off building a fence. But we sure do appreciate it!

025 024

There was a tree in the way, so it had to go!

033 030

037

So we got a nail gun and I can’t tell you how awesome this thing is! It made nailing the fence boards go so quickly! Plus it’s a power tool and I LOVE power tools.

055 056

We did run into just a little problem though. Whoops.

058

Home Depot and Lowes only had 2 1/2 inch nails and we needed 2 inch nails. Solution?

059 060

Yup. Guess who got to bend the nails with a hammer? Yours truly. With the help of my friend Sarah. Thanks friend!

061

So let’s see, there is 8 nails to every board, 18 boards per section and there are 15 sections. What’s that come out to kids? Thaaaat’s right, 2,160 nails that needed to be hammered and bent down. Can you say sore arm? I say arm because while working on this little project I discovered can’t hammer for poop with my left hand so it was all done with my right hand. Ugh.

I shouldn’t complain though. Most of this project was completed by others and not me. I really helped the last weekend when the fence boards were going in. {i.e. bending the nails was my job.}

My cousin Elizabeth was a BIG help too. She made sure the guys never ran out of beer and the beer stayed cold. This is a BIG job. {That’s her on the right passing out cold ones.} Thanks Liz!

046

Sunday the last few boards went up and I can’t tell you how happy we are to have 108 feet of fence up and looking awesome!

063 064 065

Now all we have left to do is the gate. Ugh, will this project ever end?

Memorial Day at the Bay…by Doctor Suess

My Aunt Sherri and Uncle Jim’s bay house is finally finished and they invited the family down to Galveston for a “The house is finished Party, aka Memorial Day Weekend Party, aka David’s Graduation Party”. My family doesn’t really need a reason to get together to party but whatever. Sherri and Jim’s bay house was destroyed by Hurricane Ike a few years back and they just finished building the new house. And let me tell you, it is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!! Sherri and Jim are so generous in sharing their vacation homes and we are so thankful they do cause we always have a blast!!!

So Friday evening we picked up Nick, he’s dating my cousin Elizabeth, Sherri and Jim’s daughter, his stuff had to ride on top cause with all our crap, plus 2 doggies there was no more room inside.

My Dad’s cousin Catherine, who owns SamBet’s,{ the best Cajun restaurant in Austin}, brought crawfish for lunch on Sunday. Guess who cooked em’? Yup, you guess it, this guy. The crawfish, of course, were awesome!

Some of the boys went for an evening fishing cruise. They didn’t catch anything but flack from us when they came back with empty coolers. Both “coolers”.

At the end of the trip we of course had 2 very tired puppies. Can you believe this? And in case you are wondering, yes that is a pillow Charley is sleeping on. Spoiled much?

Thank you Jim and Sherri for opening your home again and allowing us crazies to share in the good times! Love you bunches!
