Mustache & Cleavage Party!!

So... last year we had a combined birthday party for me and our friends, Nick, James, & Martin. Since we were all born in the 70's, and in the month of February, we decided to throw a 70's theme party. We were so impressed that all our friends actually dressed up that we decided to do something similar again this year. After weeks of racking my brain trying to think of something fun to do I finally settled on having a Mustache & Cleavage Party. It didn't take much to convince the boys to have this kind of party. I mean cleavage is well liked by women as well as men and who doesn't like a mustache? Mustaches are just plain funny and well, cleavage is just plain fun... for all parties involved.

We had lots of boobie and mustache themed food to serve at the party. We had Pringles Chips because the Pringles guy has a mustache; crackers and pepperoni, because... well, sometimes a woman's "you know whats" are referred to as... you get the idea. I made mustache shaped cookies and thanks to Amy for making the boobie cupcakes, complete with flesh colored icing and pink marshmellows for nips, and thanks to Liz for bringing the 7 Layer Dip, {yum}, and Hostess Snowballs complete with Dots Candy for nipples!! You truly out did yourselves ladies!!

I came dressed as MaryAnn from Gilligan's Island, Griff was Chuck Norris, Amy was Groucho Marx, Hannah was a cop, Liz was Captain Crunch, Nick was Fu-Man Chu, Brian was Ron Burgundy, and well you can see for yourself... :)

Thanks to everyone that came and helped Nick, Martin, James and I celebrate our burfdays!! We had a blast and we can't wait to do it again next year!!!

Birthday Bowling and I score mored than a 31!

So yesterday for my birthday I wanted to go bowling and bowling we did!!! I forget how much I L-O-V-E to bowl and I'm not such a shabby bowler if I do say so myself. We played 3 games and in one game I scored a 129!! We went to Main Event; which... bonus, isn't too far from our house. We of course started the night off with a few drinks to get the arms loose and ready for some serious bowling.

Sarah, one of my co-workers turned awesome friend, joined us and brought me a cheesecake!! Any one who knows me knows I'm not a huge fan of sweets and especially not a huge fan of cake. {Growing up my Mom always got me a cheesecake for my birthday instead of cake.} The cheesecake was delicious, I might have had 2 pieces, I'm just sayin'. Thank you sweet Sarah for thinking of me and my need for cheesecake!

So the boys were having a bit of trouble keeping from hitting the foul line. Some of them even fell which was funny to see. I was only able to catch Wyatt on the ground and then he did what he called "Alley Angels". You can imagine what I'm talking about, think snow angels but in a bowling alley, hence the name Alley Angels :)

So glad "my girls" were able to make it out for my birthday! Even poor tired pregnant Shana made it out. Poor girl, she's a trooper though and bowled right along with us!

Amy, Wyatt and Hannah worked on perfecting their Cupid Shuffle. My mother-in-law Toni absolutely LOVES this song so I have to give a shout out to her!Toni we were most definitely thinking of you while this song was playing! "Down, down, do your dance, do your dance. Down, down, do your dance, do your dance."

And of course I had to get a few pictures with my wonderful husband! Griff brought back the pterodactyl in this first picture, I knew that damn bird would make another appearance sometime. Don't we make a cute pair. All together now.... "awe".

Thank you to everyone that came out to celebrate my turning 31. Ah, geez, 31... insert long sigh here.

This Day Just Keeps Getting Better!!!

So today is my birthday and I'm all sorts of excited!!! Not only because it's my birthday and we are going bowling tonight but because I just found out 2 wonderful bits of information!!!

First, the bridal magazine that Griff and I are going to be in and have a 4 page spread about our wedding comes out in May!!! The magazine is called The Knot Texas, and ladies, you know this magazine is the "End All Be All" of bridal magazines! So be on the look out for it!! I'm so freaking excited I can't stand it. We are so honored to be asked to be in this magazine and that we were actually chosen is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!

Second, last night I received an email from our former wedding planner turned amazing friend, check out her site here, and was asked to be in a bridal fashion show next Thursday. Are you kidding? I couldn't say YES fast enough!!! There's no pay involved, boo, but there is a chance for some vindication for short people everywhere! Who says 4'11 fiery brunets can't walk the cat walk? Um... apparently not Alexia Gavela, or AG, as folks in the bridal world call it, not me. That's the bridal salon where we bought my dress and the salon that is putting on the fashion show. So tomorrow I'm going to AG for my fitting and then next Thursday I'll be making my fashion debut on the cat walk at Estilo Boutique. So watch out Paris & Milan, here
I come!!

Nick's Birthday!!

Today is Nick's 32nd birthday and he wanted to do it up Asian style. Seeing as he is half Asian, only from the waist up he claims, he wanted to celebrate his birthday at Benihana's. We arrived about 8pm and started the night off right with tequila shots.

{The bartender must have been cravin' a tip because these shots were HUGE!}

After warm belly's full of tequila we made our way over to our table for nothing less than fully belly's of yummy goodness!! The Saki flowed like the "Salmon of Capistrano". Griff of course ordered Sushi and I went for the habachi grilled Seafood Diablo, delicious!!! Our waiter Kevin spoke only in Borat quotes and was hysterical!

We had a great time and laughed A LOT!!! Thanks to everyone that came out for Nick's birthday, I know he loved that we were all there! Everyone ready to do it all over again?!! Because my birthday is tomorrow!!! Whoop, whoop!!

Heart Shapped Leaves!

Griff asked me what I wanted to do this year for Valentine's Day. Since this day is only a few days before my birthday I usually don't want to do anything big, and this year was no exception. I told him that we should just have a family day with Charley and that I wanted him to recreate the dinner he cooked on our first Valentine's together. This morning we woke up and Griff went to get breakfast taco's and groceries for dinner while I got ready for the day. We then loaded Charley in the car and went to Twin Falls, an awesome hiking trail with plenty of streams for Charley to swim.

She of course wanted nothing to do with anything unless it involved her ball and the water. I mean this girl L-O-V-E-S her some water. She doesn't care if it's cold, just as long as she's swimmin' she's a happy puppy.

I had never been to Twin Falls before today. I have lived in Austin for almost 10 years and I can't believe I haven't been here before. It's beautiful!! With all the rain we have been getting lately we took full advantage of the gorgeous sunny day and the high water made some awesome falls. I mean, look at this! I can't believe this beautiful place is in our backyard.

While walking I found this leaf that is in the shape of a heart. And it just so happens I found it on Valentine's Day. I kept the leaf as I'm sure I'll do something with it, just don't know what that something is yet.

Thank you baby for a wonderful Valentine's Day. It's our first as a married couple and I look forward to MANY more wonderful celebrations with you.

Who Dat?! Who Dat?!

Who Dat say goin' beat dem Saints? Um... NOT Payton and his beloved Colts. Yesterday Griff and I, along with a whole slew of our friends, went to our friends Myles & Shana's house to watch the game. Um... I love me some football especially when the Saints win!! And thank God they did, because can I just tell you my ride home with my football fanatic husband would have been horrible!!

So Shana told me not to bring anything but of course you can't come empty handed to a Super Bowl Party, so we brought brownie's, which were gone in like a nano-second, and pop-corn Chex-Mix; so easy and sooo good!! And speaking of food, so you might notice a little picture to the right of some cupcakes. Take a good gander at those delicious puffs of pastry would ya? Thaaaaaat's right, the genius working at the HEB Bakery spelled the word "bowl" wrong. Yup, those spectacular examples of human specimens spelled out Super Boll, instead of Super Bowl. Wow.

A BIG thanks to Myles and Shana for hosting the Super Bowl festivities again this year!! We had a blast and can't wait to do it again soon. Love you guys!!

Happy Hour at Han's!

So last week Hannah was sweet enough to host our "not so weekly since I've been married" happy hour. These little girls nights out used to be a weekly event. Tuesday nights are Top Shelf Tuesday at Trudy's and we took them up on their 2 drink maximum when ordering their delicious Mexican Martini's. Seriously, you think, "only two!", but yes, only 2. Two is all you need. So anyway, since Griff and I got married, he moved in and Amy moved out, and waaaaay too South, our little weekly gossip sessions are few and far between. Tottinos Pizza and Vodka and Diet Coke have replaced the Mexi Marts and queso, but the company is still just as good, maybe even better. So last week I asked Han if Charley could come with me since Griff was going to be at his Ninja class late that night. Han was sweet and obliged, even though she has 2 cats. In my rush to get home from work, get Charley, and get to Han's I forgot to bring any of Charley's toys. I knew she'd get bored and want something to play with. Han found one of her cats old stuffed animals, looked sort of like a sock monkey, and gave it to Charley to play with. I warned her that Charley does not do well with stuffed animals as she thinks the object is to rip the poor animal to shreds and pull out the stuffing. Take a look at the massacre.
